World Sleep Day

World Sleep Day😴

Sleep is incredibly important for our physical and mental health and yet it can be so difficult for many of us to know how to improve our sleep.

As I wrote in an article in The Independent as a bloss clinical psychologist consultant, I think it’s important that new parents and people in general don’t get over-anxious about poor sleep. While it might make you feel out of control, that doesn’t mean you will go out of control.

What you can do to help?

😴Try and make your room and bed as calm as possible. This means not working, watching TV or being on your phone, because sleep and where you sleep need to be connected with rest rather than work.
😴If you have a busy head when going to sleep, keep a diary by your bed and deal with these concerns the following day.
😴If you are tossing and turning and cannot get back to sleep then get out of bed, breathe out and get back into bed when you’re ready to sleep.
😴Persist. It takes 30 days to learn a new routine and so stay committed to developing a sleep routine and reap the benefits over time!

Happy sleeping!
